The Springfield metropolitan area is dominated by the large Holyoke Mall in Ingleside, but suffered from a crippling local economy in the 1980s and was not overbuilt. Much of the mall was still functioning well into the 2000s, and it is still an extremely outdated shopping mall from the inside, and there will almost certainly be a few new stores added at a later date.

I honestly have no idea where this picture comes from, but it makes the mall look even darker than it was, and it looks like it is. This morning, while browsing through an archived folder on my hard drive, I found a photo of the Fairfield Mall in Chicopee, Massachusetts, destroyed five years ago. I didn't take the picture So I honestly don't even know who took it - which is quite an achievement in itself. The PREIT shopping centre (which opened in 1974, closed in 2001 and partially demolished in 2003 and 2004) was founded by Caldor Bradlees (who gave me great difficulty in knowing why he died). The site was a large box center that was to anchor a new shopping center in the city of Springfield, Mass., that began in 2002 and continued and demolished until 2003 or 2004.

Dead Malls also has an exterior photo taken sometime in 2001 before the mall closed. The Fairfield Mall was located in Chicopee, Massachusetts, on the corner of Main Street and Main Street, just outside downtown. A sign outside the house reads: "We have been open for some time," according to the website, and it is still open today.
So I went to the entrance where the subway was, and it looked very much like it was still in operation. There was a bag of crisps hanging there, the menu was still up, but inside it was very, very dark. It was Saturday afternoon And I saw that all the doors in the mall were locked, so I had to lock the door.
